The Android 13 makeover of Digital Wellbeing’s Bedtime mode includes wallpaper dimming.

Google has updated the Digital Wellbeing Bedtime mode for Android 13 and added the pretty helpful Dim the wallpaper option.

To make it simpler to set up and administer, Android 13’s Bedtime mode now has a new Material You preference UI. You will see the redesigned card-based list after opening from Settings or the shortcut for the Digital Wellbeing app.

The first card includes a quick Turn on now button and notes the current state of Bedtime mode. When activated, there is a cute animation (complete with a CAT) and two choices: Pause for 30 minutes or Turn off for now.

The next card is the bedtime routine: Turn on while charging, Use a schedule (same time UI as before), or Use None (for manual control).

The final component is Customize, which keeps the previous values for Do Not Disturb for Bedtime Mode and Turn off Bedtime Mode at Next Alarm. A new screen option for bedtime includes:

Grayscale Darken the screen: Disable the always-on display. Wallpaper that’s dim Dark theme The Pixel 6as Nature sweeping set looks particularly intriguing when using Bedtime mode to make your wallpaper darker and more dim.

This new wallpaper dimming option is enabled (h/t Mishaal Rahman ) by version 1.1.463639936.beta (409068), which was broadly released yesterday to the beta channel . In May, we did the option’s initial preview. The Bedtime mode revamp for Android 13 appears to have launched in mid-July, if not sooner. On the Pixel phones running Android 12 that we verified today, the makeover is not present.
