Now in beta, Apple Music 4.0 for Android includes iOS 16 capabilities and mentions “Apple Classical.”

To maintain parity as part of version 4.0, which is now in beta, Apple Music for Android has been updated with the most recent features ahead of iOS 16 launching next month .

Regarding APK Insight: We’ve decompiled the most recent version of an app that Google put on the Play Store in our APK Insight post. When we decompile these files—known as APKs for Android apps—we can find numerous lines of code that allude to potential future features. Remember that Google might or might not ever deploy these features, and our understanding of what they are might be limited. However, we’ll strive to give those that are closer to completion a chance to demonstrate how they’ll seem if they do ship. Read on with that in mind.

Today’s update to Apple Music introduces three new features:

Get better recommendations when you favorite artists you care about, thanks to Favorites. Your Favorites in Listen Now: Return to your favorite artists in a fresh row of Listen Now. News about new music: Receive notifications of new music from your favorite artists to stay current. Instead of being at the mercy of the current notification system, you can star artists from the top-right corner of their artist sites to learn about future new releases. Favoriting will enhance recommendations as well.

The other change is a new row or carousel in Listen Now for your favorite artists, although we haven’t seen it yet.

Other sorting options for songs in a playlist include Playlist Order, Title, Artist, Album, or Release Date, with a chevron to the right for swift reversal.

Last but not least, Apple Music 4.0 makes additional mentions to Apple Classical. Improved widgets and the name first appeared in February, but there is still no separate program.

For a few more weeks, Apple Music for Android version 4.0 should remain in the beta channel before becoming stable around the time iOS 16 is released. Because Android 13 is not yet its target, it continues to use the outdated media player interface.

Thanks to JEB Decompiler , several APK Insight teardowns are made possible.
