Samsung gave customers who bought its new foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, a free year of its extended warranty service, Care, just like it did with the previous version. But it’s much more difficult than it needs to be to redeem that deal.
Samsung provides clients with a free year of Samsung Care with their Galaxy Z Fold or Galaxy Z Flip 4 pre-orders. The subscription, which can save you up to $155 and includes a screen replacement, quicker repairs, and other benefits, is essentially a peace of mind offer. It’s something we strongly advise customers of these devices to do for those gadgets that are still susceptible to harm but are less so than regular smartphones.
However, obtaining that free year of Samsung Care for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 is surprisingly challenging and, if you reside in the US, it to be impossible.
Despite advertising the offer, Samsung has not provided users with clear instructions on how to take advantage of it during the pre-order period.
When making a purchase on Samsung.com, Samsung Care is displayed throughout the checkout process. The offer is only valid for purchases through Samsung.com , however that block only promotes the service at its full price and makes no mention of the one-year free offer.
Notably, the promotion is not included in Samsung’s US listings for the Fold 4 or Flip 4, although it may be found abroad.
Regarding these devices, Samsung’s global press release states:
Customers who pre-order either the Galaxy Z Flip4 or the Galaxy Z Fold4 will receive a free year of Samsung Care, which offers protection against drops and broken displays along with Samsung expert help in some regions.
In its Unpacked launch for the gadget, Samsung even introduced proudly announced this on stage, with just a brief footnote mentioning that the offer is only accessible in a few nations.

However, there is no indication of how or, more significantly, where users are intended to use the deal. Nowhere in the general public is this explained to buyers.
And we weren’t the only ones in the chaos. a thread on Reddit discovered dozens of customers perplexed about how to use the deal on launch day. Some claim that customer service advised them to just purchase a membership, while others claim that they were informed the deal wasn’t accessible in the United States.
The free year of Care is not offered in the United States, as Samsung Support has subsequently confirmed, and we spoke with a Care staffer on the phone this morning who said the same thing. When I questioned, the agent suggested I contact Samsung.com to confirm that information. As I previously noted, we haven’t discovered a single mention of this promotion on Samsung’s website or support pages, though we were able to confirm it’s available in the UK.
We can fairly easily understand what is going on with this promotion. Buyers of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 are not eligible for free Care from Samsung in the United States, and the corporation is misleading customers into thinking they will be when they buy the gadget. Although the corporation isn’t lying and, to its credit, didn’t mention the Care promotion in its US press release or marketing, the sheer lack of precise information has undoubtedly put many customers in a state of perplexity.
Samsung was unavailable right away to remark on the situation.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 have one day left for pre-orders, and even without a free year of Samsung Care, it’s difficult to not suggest taking advantage of the company’s kind offerings. Although the trade-in values for the Flip 4 and the Fold 4 have been rather unstable, you can receive up to $900 and $1,000 respectively. A Galaxy Watch 5 can even be obtained virtually free by stacking various offers. On top of that, there is also double the storage and a free case.
Though it wasn’t at all evident that one of Samsung’s core regions was never eligible, it’s still unfortunate to miss out on a free year of additional security.
