These phones now have the March security patch from OnePlus.

How is the March 2022 security update being handled? OnePlus guarantees to regularly release system updates for its wide range of devices for at least two years, and in some cases much longer for flagship models.

Google added the March security patch as the fourth post-Android 12 update for all qualified Pixel devices at the beginning of the month along with a sizable Feature Drop and version 12.1/12L. In addition to tweaking the default Android 12 experience for devices, this OTA contains a number of new modifications to enhance the experience on larger displays. For the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, it will arrive a little later, but going ahead, this will serve as the foundation for third-party OEM builds.

OnePlus 9 Pro with OxygenOS C.47 patch and March 2022 security update

Samsung has maintained the recent extraordinary update tempo for its hugely well-liked Galaxy series, as has been the case for a long. In late January, the March patch for Galaxy devices was released, which is a disgrace to many other OEMs.

It can be challenging to keep track of scheduled upgrades for your device because OnePlus smartphones undergo bimonthly updates. A significant number of OnePlus smartphones that were eligible for the February 2022 update have already received it, including the company’s flagship OnePlus 9 series. Before that, we observed a very belated distribution of the January 2021 security patch for a small number of carefully chosen devices, such as the OnePlus Nord and OnePlus 9 series. Only a few OnePlus devices have the March 2022 security patch installed as of right now, but we anticipate that to change over the next few days and weeks.

The OnePlus 8, 8T, and India-only 9R series are finally beginning to receive the stable OxygenOS 12 update with Android 12 since the last update rolled out. Before this OTA rollout, the previous flagship pair participated in a larger Open Beta update period. It’s unclear if the March patch is available for those devices as it’s only a limited distribution for individuals who have previously signed up for the test phase. If we get a confirmation, we’ll update this post.

ALPHA 9 SERIES The OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro have been receiving the March 2022 security patch quite quickly as they are the biggest and greatest OnePlus smartphone in Western areas. OxygenOS 12 C.47 is rolling out right now for the pair, with the March patch’s patch notes stating fixes for data connections, MMS problems, and general system stability.

The March 2022 security patch is now included in OxygenOS 11.A.07 , which is currently rolling out for the OnePlus 9RT. Strangely, this stable version, which is based on Android 11, is being released at the same time as OxygenOS 12, which is based on Android 12. It follows that the most recent security patch must also be included in the OxygenOS 12 release. But at this point, we simply don’t know. The patch also modifies some of the 9RT’s performance, albeit its restricted global rollout prevents it from being considered a wide rollout.

OxygenOS C14 is now rolling out for the OnePlus 9R, which is exclusive to India, despite being more closely linked with the OnePlus 8 series. Except for the now-outdated March 2022 security patch for OnePlus phones, this incremental patch provides very little.

ONEPLUS 8 SERIES

OnePlus 8T

The whole OnePlus 8 series, including the 8, 8 Pro, and 8T, will receive the March 2022 security patch with the OxygenOS C15 update, according to XDA . This patch contains certain adjustments to enhance Face Unlock tuning, call connection stability, charging speed, and more. The March patch is the sole addition that stands out as being particularly noteworthy, even if it is currently about a month overdue.

NORD SERIES ONEPLUS

OnePlus Nord CE gets the March 2022 security update

The OnePlus Nord CE was the first device to really receive the most recent March patch. It isn’t exactly great, but it’s a fine phone for the price. It’s basically an even more affordable version of the original OnePlus Nord. Although OxygenOS 11.0.16.16 seems to be leaving (via OnePlus 9 series 0), this patch also contains a number of adjustments for the basic camera setup in this scene. Of course, this upgrade is still based on Android 11, and there has been no indication on whether this low-cost tablet will soon receive an OxygenOS 12 and Android 12 update.

For those still using the late-2022 cheap Android, OnePlus 9 series 1 is now available for the original OnePlus Nord, despite the update only adding a patch and nothing else of real note.

The OnePlus 9 series 2 will provide the most recent patch to users of the Nord N10 5G. For international markets, this patch is available in several flavors. While the global model receives build number 11.0.5.BE86AA, Europe uses build number 11.0.5.BE89BA.

OnePlus 9 series 3 is currently rolling out for the Nord N200 for people who own the least expensive OnePlus to date. The OnePlus Nord N200’s March 2022 security patch is all that is included in this OTA. At this time, it is unknown when Android 12 will be made available for the budget-friendly phone. Sadly, people using N200 phones in the OnePlus 9 series 4 still have the December 2021 patch installed.

The most recent OnePlus Nord CE 2 is currently receiving OxygenOS A.11, which includes the March 2022 security patch and several performance-enhancing enhancements. Although it is one of the first OTA upgrades for the low-cost handset, OnePlus 9 series 5 reports that it has not yet spread extensively.

STILL WAITING FOR THE MARCH PATCH: DEVICES

A bigger portion of the OnePlus hardware portfolio should be updated with the February 2022 security fixes, albeit not all devices are listed here. Currently, only a very small number of devices have received the most recent patch. Due to the frequent biweekly rhythm on which updates are distributed, some devices may have already received a patch before its wider deployment.

It’s also significant to note that OnePlus has formally affirmed that over the upcoming months, the 6 and 6T series will no longer get updates or support. Mid-November saw an unexpected update for the 2018 flagship pair, who would now only receive unofficial third-party support going forward.

Updates for devices from OnePlus frequently arrive in stages. This means that it’s not always clear from the first announcement and subsequent confirmation on the OnePlus Forums when you’ll be able to download an OTA file and update or patch your smartphone.

To receive updates on time, our recommendation is to use a third-party program. The community-run program enables sideloading of official update.zip files as soon as they become obtainable to the general public. While doing this will guarantee that you receive updates instantly, if you experience issues you might need to go back to an earlier build. If there are serious issues, a device reset may be necessary.
