The status of “Food and home orders” will be displayed by a new Pixel At A Glance function. (U: Removable)

The Pixels At a Glance widget has now added a setting to get the Delivery and pickup status of food and domestic orders after adding a commute option for traffic.

Upgrade 8/22: A server-side update has deleted the settings toggle for this feature. There have been no reports of the actual Food and home ordering capability being used by end customers in the last week. The capability would make more sense under the new At a Glance settings, and its rollout was perhaps premature.

Original 8/16: The Google Assistant version of the At a Glance settings, which is older than the Pixel Launcher model, prominently features the Food and household orders toggle. The latter has more modern functions including doorbell previews, flashlight, and Bluetooth headphone battery status, while the former has the weather (which recently received air quality data) and planned events (Calendar, reminders, etc.).

This innovation, which raises the total number of features on both lists to eight, is by default turned on and is marketed as showing delivery and pickup status. Although there haven’t been any reports of this feature becoming live yet, it appears that the preference on Android 12 and 13 devices first surfaced after a server-side push (rather than an app update ).

It comes as we’ve been keeping an eye on three new At a Glance features that we anticipate will be released in conjunction with the following Pixel Feature Drop. Included in this is the Arrival status for food deliveries, which we previously discovered integrates with DoorDash.

If the functionality Google describes today is applicable to more order/package kinds and isn’t just for one delivery provider, then it should be more useful.
