Rolling out Material You buttons on Google Play Store

More Material You alterations are being made to the Google Play Store in the form of additional buttons, as we initially enabled in March.

The homescreen was only upgraded with the initial Material You update in October, which added a new search field, bottom bar, and Dynamic Color for those two essential components. Now, users will begin to see pill-shaped buttons all around the application. The rectangular buttons from Material Design 2 with their slightly rounded corners have been replaced with this new design.

The Install, Uninstall, and Update buttons on program listings have undergone these alterations, whereas category chips and filters have had a design update. As buttons are more frequently used and generally more noticeable, it is the appropriate trade-off. The updates can also be shown in the search results and on the Manage apps and device page.

Buttons, which are primarily green, do not have Dynamic Color theming. We’ve heard a lot about Material You buttons in Google Play so far.

Google Play on the web does not include Material You, despite the significant revamp, and was probably already under development before the new design language.

In the future, the Play Store will undergo a significant upgrade for Android tablets and other large-screen devices. As of right now, the Material You homescreen is not available for those form sizes. While the major feeds make use of cards for a denser user interface, the redesign will feature a navigation rail.
