Early in 2019, Lenovo will release the $249 Android 12L tablet.

Google unveiled Android 12L in March, but new devices are only now starting to support it. With the release of the Lenovo Tab P11 (2nd Gen) early in 2019, Lenovo has become the first to reveal an Android 12L tablet.

Updates for Lenovo’s P12 Pro and Samsung’s tablets have only lately begun to roll out for Android 12L, which was initially released for Pixel phones. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 were the first (foldable) products to actually launch with that OS. A taskbar for rapid split-screen multitasking and switching is one of Android 12L’s features, as are two-column layouts for the OS (notification shade, lockscreen, etc.) and apps.

The first tablet running Android 12L out of the box will be announced by Lenovo at IFA, but it won’t be available until January 2023. You can purchase an 11.5-inch LCD with 2,000 x 1,200 resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rate, and 400 nits of brightness for $249.99 (in Sage or Storm Grey).

The octa-core MediaTek Helio G99 with 4 or 6 GB of RAM and one of three storage options (64, 128 or 128 GB With extendable SD card compatibility) powers the Tab P11 (2nd Gen). A stylus pen holder, four speakers, two microphones, a headphone socket, USB-C, a 7,700 mAh battery, and optional LTE connectivity are all included.

Lenovo is releasing the Tab P11 Pro (2nd Gen) this September, with prices starting at $399.99, although it still comes pre-installed with Android 12. According to Lenovo, all tablets will get three years’ worth of security updates after their initial release, at least two significant Android OS upgrades, and up to Android 14.

The specifications of the 11.2-inch OLED include 2560 x 1536, 600 nits or more, 100% DCI-P3, and 120 Hz refresh rate. It includes a detachable keyboard with a trackpad and Bluetooth pen capability that is modeled after the ThinkPad model.

The MediaTek Kompanio 1300T has an octa-core processor and three different RAM/storage configurations: 4GB 128GB, 6GB 128GB, and 8GB 256GB. It is available in Storm Grey or Oatmeal. The battery can run for up to 14 hours and typically has a capacity of 8,200 mAh.
