YouTube has introduced Player for Education, which will provide ad-free playback and better suggestions for educational institutions, in the US and Korea to aid the enormous educational sector.
The YouTube Player for Education, which is an embedded player created to display only instructional content within popular learning applications, was announced in an dedicated blog post . Ads, external links, and content recommendations are removed from the player. With YouTube also teaming with well-known edtech companies in the United States including EDpuzzle, Purdue University, and Purdue Global for the player, the goal is to eliminate “distractions.” For a more specialized and focused learning experience, YouTube Player for Education is touted to outperform the basic integrated player already present within Google Classroom.
We’re introducing YouTube Player for Education, a new YouTube embedded player that displays content on widely used education apps without interruptions like advertisements, external links, or recommendations, to enhance the YouTube experience in educational settings.
Along with the Player For Education, YouTube has also unveiled brand-new tools to aid in boosting revenue through this ad-free model in an effort to encourage more educational content makers to take use of this. Similar to sites like Skillshare, Udemy, and others, YouTube producers will be allowed to produce paid video “courses” starting in 2019. You can view a course without ads and have the video material play in the background, similar to how you can with YouTube Premium.
Next year, accredited creators will be able to start providing viewers with paid or free Courses that offer in-depth, structured learning experiences. The video can be played in the background and is ad-free for viewers who opt to purchase a Course. Before being made available in other nations, courses will first launch in beta in the US and South Korea.
“Quizzes” is another brand-new feature that will help maintain the quality of the learning content. This enables creators to include simple tests or quizzes in the Community section of their YouTube website. Access will be granted to a select group of creators over the coming months until this functionality launches in beta the following year.
Before being made available in other nations, YouTube Player for Education and all of the new capabilities will initially be made available in the US and South Korea.
