To assist you in organizing your summer trip, Google’s unified Travel site is adding a number of new features for Flights, Hotels (including searches near specified sites), and the Explore capability.
To begin with, Google Flights customers may already track rates for a particular time frame, but any dates can now be toggled to receive an email if Google detects lower than usual fares in the upcoming 3-6 months. In close proximity to the current switch, this can be enabled.
You can immediately identify which regions provide the most options for dining, shopping, or touring thanks to the addition of additional interest layers by hotels search to the map. These options can be found in the top-left area of the map view along with public transportation. Google will use color to highlight the designated areas. Additionally:
The choice to display properties within a 15 or 30 minute walk or drive from that area will be shown as of right now when you input it in the hotel or vacation rental search box. If you’re attending an event—say, a wedding or a conference—and want to stay close to the venue, this may be useful.
After looking up specific locations in the Hotel search section of Travel, a new pill at the bottom of the Google map view can be used to activate this. Although one could always do this manually, it’s positive that the business has directly incorporated such a typical workflow:
You can also save hotels and vacation rental properties for quick access when planning.
Look for the Stored tab on mobile devices or the right hand panel on desktop computers to view your saved properties.
Last but not least, the Google Travel site’s Explore function allows you to explore nearby:
Click this option to limit your search to locations you can drive to in a few hours. Select any location to view useful information, such as average hotel rates or the weather forecast, for that location.
