Starting with military hospitals and healthcare institutions that provide abortions, Google is introducing an update to Maps and Search that specifically highlights whether a location offers a certain, verified service.
For instance, only locations that Google has confirmed to provide certain services will be featured when you search for veterans hospitals nearby in Search or Maps and see a Veterans hospitals chip with a check mark.
Google will indicate Provides abortion when you search for abortion clinics nearby. When the business lacks confirmation, you can also notice a label that reads “Might not provide abortions,” and if there are no nearby locations that are pertinent, you will be prompted to “Search further away.” Additionally, that button will show up for travel agencies, physiotherapy facilities, and mental health clinics. This week, similar steps was followed by this in web directories.
Google claims to obtain confirmations through contacting businesses and working with reliable data sources. This is the extent of the feature as of right now, but the company promised that more locations will eventually offer these confirmations. It expands on Google’s efforts by enabling searches for particular COVID vaccinations and EV charger kinds.
