With the impending Google Wallet, Google loses the head of payments and commerce to Pinterest.

That Bill Ready, formerly of Google’s head of commerce and payments, would take over as CEO in place of co-founder of Pinterest Ben Silbermann.

Most recently, Bill Ready served as Google’s president of business, payments, and the next billion users. Before beginning his work at Google at the beginning of 2020, the executive held positions at PayPal, Venmo, and Braintree.

At first, he was exclusively in charge of commerce initiatives like those to compete with Amazon by eliminating commission fees for Buy on Google and making listings on Google Shopping free. Additionally, there were alliances with Shopify and WooCommerce.

In April 2021, Ready acquired Payments and Next Billion Users in the wake of Caesar Sengupta’s resignation from Google. He is credited with being instrumental in establishing Google’s new vision and strategy for commerce and payments. This entails discontinuing prior Plex banking efforts as well as the impending introduction of Google Wallet and the intention to make it a comprehensive digital wallet.

Bill was instrumental in establishing Google’s new vision and strategy for commerce and payments. In order to provide our users and our partners with useful, universally accessible commerce experiences, we will keep expanding on this solid base. Bill’s leadership has been much appreciated, and we wish him the best in his new position at Pinterest.
