WhatsApp conversation capability for transferring between Android and iOS devices is now available {update: wider release}.

WhatsApp is now starting to roll out support for transfers from Android to iOS after previously only allowing transfers from iOS to Android.

Release 07/07: According to WABetaInfo , WhatsApp chat transfers from Android to iOS are now beginning to roll out with the most recent beta update. This follows the initial announcement and limited initial availability. Even more smartphones now support the transfer feature thanks to the most recent WhatsApp beta update for Android, version 2.22.15.11.

This means that if you decide to switch to iOS, you will be able to bring all of your current chats and messages from the largest cross-platform messaging app in the world with you. Your devices must be linked to the same Wi-Fi network for the transfer to take place, and you must have a lot of battery power. You’ll have an additional option once Apple’s Move to iOS software has been updated. From this point, the procedure is completely explained, and you can migrate all of your content by following the straightforward steps.

You will soon be able to transfer your whole chat, video, and voice message history between an existing Android phone and an iPhone, as confirmed by none other than Mark Zuckerberg via his official Facebook page . The official WhatsApp support pages reports that, regrettably, you cannot transfer the display name or call history across Android and iOS smartphones.

This is a significant step for the cross-platform messaging app, though. End-to-end encryption is maintained even after moving your content from one device to another, according to Zuckerberg. There are some restrictions because any WhatsApp transfers must be started using the Move to iOS app on your Android phone. Additionally, your Android device must be running at least Android 5.0 Lollipop, and your iPhone must be running iOS 15.5 in order to accept a transfer.

There are also various restrictions based on the app version, so that’s not all. The transfer must also function with WhatsApp for iOS version 2.22.10.70 or later and WhatsApp for Android version 2.22.7.74. One more restriction applies here: your new iPhone must be brand-new, factory-reset, and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Android phone in order for the Move to iOS app to pair.

A timetable for the transfer/migration feature’s full distribution was not announced by Zuckerberg or WhatsApp. However, it’s anticipated that it will be accessible in the upcoming weeks. Please refer to the official support pages here if you wish to test this out on your own.
