With the first ChromeOS devices to support a smart card reader, including one model with the most recent AMD Ryzen processors, HP is expanding its array of business-ready Chromebooks.
This week, AMD revealed its Ryzen 5000 C line of Chromebook CPUs, which are based on the more recent Zen 3 architecture. HP is announcing two new Chromebooks at the same time as that launch, including one that utilizes the new Ryzen processors and is intended for office professionals.
The HP Elite c645 G2 Chromebook, which may be ordered with a Ryzen 3 to Ryzen 7 processor, is at the top of the series. This gadget comes in variants with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage for those who value performance. The HP c645 features up to two conventional USB-A ports in addition to the standard dual USB-C connectors, an HDMI port, and a microSD card slot.

The ability for a smart card reader is what really distinguishes this Chromebook from competing models and essentially any Chrome OS device produced up to this point. Having employees directly enter their secure credentials demonstrates HP’s dedication to the enterprise sector.
Early in June, the HP Elite c645 G2 Chromebook should be available for purchase, with prices starting at $559.
The only difference between the HP Elite c640 G3 Chromebook and the c645 in terms of almost all parameters is the internal CPU. The Elite c640 uses a variety of 12th Gen Intel CPUs, from Celeron choices up to Core i7, rather than an AMD chip.

Later this month, the HP Elite c640 G3 Chromebook should be available for purchase, with prices starting at $509.
