Today, Google Voice experienced a brief outage due to failed outgoing calls.

If you were unable to use Google Voice to make an outgoing call this afternoon, it was likely because of a widespread issue.
Update 7/6: Google has posted more details regarding the issue:
Services and Features Affected:
Affected by Google Voice Calling feature
Areas/Zones: International

For all users, Google Voice had trouble finishing voice calls. Failures started at 16:12 US/Pacific on July 6, 2022, and continued for 55 minutes. According to preliminary investigation, the adjustment made to route a particular kind of VOIP call—the issue’s primary cause—caused failure to route all voice calls. On July 6, 2022, 17:07 US/Pacific, the problem was resolved by rolling back the identified change.

Client Impact:
Google Phone users reported issues with both incoming and outgoing voice calls. Redialed calls also didn’t get through.

Customers impacted by this issue may encounter failed calls using Google Voice from about 4:12 p.m. to 5:04 p.m. PT. Outgoing callers specifically heard a message saying that the number was not in service.

Google claims that SMS/MMS messaging was unaffected, which is consistent with our tests. The business reported that: at 5:27 p.m.

The Google Voice issue has been rectified. We apologise for the trouble and appreciate your perseverance and support.

It can be used in sales floors with multi-level auto attendants and ring groups in addition to providing employees with a work number that can be accessible across Android, iOS, and the web. This version is also included in the side panel of Gmail. Except for today’s downtime, Google’s VOiP service rarely experiences such a noticeable outage.
