At a Glance on Pixel now offers 14 separate capabilities, and Google is working on adding three more, the most prominent of which is ridesharing status.
Regarding APK Insight: We’ve decompiled the most recent version of an app that Google put on the Play Store in our APK Insight post. When we decompile these files—known as APKs for Android apps—we can find numerous lines of code that allude to potential future features. Remember that Google might or might not ever deploy these features, and our understanding of what they are might be limited. However, we’ll strive to give those that are closer to completion a chance to demonstrate how they’ll seem if they do ship. Read on with that in mind.
We introduced a Cross device timer functionality for At a Glance at the beginning of this week. This feature would display the timer settings from your Smart Displays and Assistant speakers. Since April, Google has been working on making information about food delivery visible on your lock and homescreen.
At a Glance and other intelligent features like Now Playing and Live Captions are powered by Android System Intelligence (ASI), version S.21, which is now rolling out. In that ASI update, strings are added for the two capabilities we’ve been monitoring as well as a third:
andlt;string name=echo smartspace cross device timer toggle titleandgt; Cross device timer andlt;/stringandgt; Timer information from your home devices andlt;string name=echo smartspace food delivery eta toggle titleandgt; Arrival status for food delivery andlt;/stringandgt; String name=”echo smartspace_ Display your vehicle’s status The ridesharing services in question seem to be Lyft and Uber, which will be practical when your Pixel is locked and will display how far away a vehicle is immediately in At a Glance. This is comparable to what iOS 16 will be doing later this year with Live Notifications on the lockscreen, which also used Uber as a stage example.
DoorDash could be used for both restaurants and groceries and will work with the At a Glances Food delivery integration. Hopefully, Google will eventually add more services to the list.
Google has thus far connected Pixel Feature Drops with At a Glance expansion in terms of launch. If previous years give any indicator, Android 13 should be made available throughout the next year.
Thanks to JEB Decompiler , several APK Insight teardowns are made possible.
