The TSMC Arizona fab is almost finished.

According to the pure-play foundry, TSMC recently staged a topping-out ceremony for a new 5nm fab in the US state of Arizona.

TSMC stated in a LinkedIn post that Fab 21, its new 5nm fab in Phoenix, is progressing as planned. The company wrote in the post that “TSMC Arizona is on time and on track to introduce the most cutting-edge leading-edge semiconductor technology to the US.”

According to TSMC’s previously released plan, equipment move-in at the Arizona fab will begin in the second half of 2022. The foundry anticipates starting volume production in the first quarter of 2024 at the phase-one facility of the fab, which is planned for a monthly output capacity of 20,000 wafers.
