The Pixel volume menu now includes Pixel Buds Pro ANC settings {U}

Some Pixel Buds Pro owners received a speedier method to modify Active Noise Control on their Pixel phones on Friday. The Pixel Buds Pros ANC settings can now be changed more quickly, and Android 13’s volume menu is also included.

Update 9/16: The Pixel Buds Pro ANC connection with the Pixel volume menu is now broadly going out after first surfacing at the beginning of this month. A raised ANC strip on the main settings page also occurs at the same time as this server-side update.

These two upgrades are still missing from the third-party devices we verified today and are currently only available for Pixel phones.

Original 9/7: Google moved the Active Noise Control strip for Noise Cancellation, Off, and Transparency to the top of the main screen immediately below Forget and Connect/Disconnect. This eliminates the need to enter the Pixel Buds app/settings and then find the Sound menu. This is a useful time saver even though it is a modest adjustment.

The fact that this strip is now included in the system Sound and vibration sheet, however, is the more significant adjustment. By pulling up the volume slider and selecting the three-dot overflow menu at the bottom, you can get to it. A highly seamless integration that is similar to Apple’s Control Center strategy on iOS can be seen when Active Noise Control shows immediately underneath Media volume.

Instead of an update to the, these two modifications are being implemented through server-side updates. As of Wednesday, not all accounts we verified have this modification enabled.

After being absent on Friday, the volume integration for Pixel Buds Pro ANC is now visible with Google Play services version 22.26.15. It appears on many Pixel phones running Android 13 with the same Google Account, but not on Google phones or Samsung tablets running Android 12. (12L).
