With Android 12, Google completely overhauled the visual language of the operating system, and it appears the firm plans to further develop that look in Android 13. Google modified the media player notification with a new squiggle design for the track scrubber as part of the first Android 13 beta.
The media player notification in Android 13 now includes a distinct track scrubber line, as Google itself has noted. For any material that has already been played, Android 13’s progress bar now has a squiggle appearance instead of just a single line. Google announced the change in a promo image , but Beta 1 has already implemented it, as shown in the image below.
At the time Google first launched Material You, this appearance was hinted at. In the announcement video for Material You from this time last year, for instance, the squiggle that we now see in Android 13 is very obvious. It is visible around the 0:07 mark .
Notably, this modification also occurs after Google updated Android’s media player notification in the most recent developer beta of Android 13. The notification’s prominent album art was restored as part of that upgrade, which also improved the controls.
