The following is a list of Hangouts’ Easter eggs for Google Chat.

Although Google Chat greatly modernizes Hangouts, certain parallels still exist. One of the more entertaining overlaps is easter eggs, with all of the traditional slash commands still functioning on Google Chat.

These days, slash commands are the norm for group chat apps, with Google Chat and Hangouts using them before it for quick and simple kaomoji insertion. These macro shortcuts are more helpful on desktop web today because Android now has a sizable selection (and UI picker for them).

When they visited the Messages for web client, we noted:

Popular Japanese emoticons effectively use punctuation, spacing, and different letters to create faces and express other emotions. However, they are difficult to physically enter because many keyboard characters, particularly on mobile devices, are difficult to access.

By entering a forward slash (/) after the descriptor, they are enabled. You and the recipient will both automatically receive the conversion of the slash command you entered. In contrast to the past, many Google Chat easter eggs now make use of emoji characters.
