The fastest-selling Pixel model ever is the Pixel 6, and Sundar Pichai promises new hardware for Android at I/O 2022.

Sundar Pichai claimed that the Pixel 6 is the fastest-selling Pixel ever on the most recent earnings call, bragging about a quarter’s worth of sales records. For I/O 2022, the Alphabet CEO also hinted at additional hardware and Android announcements.

Similar to Google I/O 2019, the excitement more or less confirms hardware announcements at the developer conference next month. The Pixel Watch and Pixel 6a are strong contenders.

Pichai added that the Android team would present at I/O a number of the many useful functions and services that Android and its platforms offer. The overarching theme of Google’s Android announcements at CES in January was helpfulness. This includes Nearby Share for Windows, the capability of Wear OS to unlock Chromebooks and Android devices, and additional Chrome OS connections.
