Specifications, cost, Wear OS 3, and everything else we currently know about the Google Pixel Watch

At I/O 2022 in May, Google formally unveiled its first smartwatch, but only gave a sneak peek ahead of the complete release this autumn alongside the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. 9to5 Since then, Google has made a number of significant informational disclosures, and this is everything we currently know about the Pixel Watch.

July 4 originally Observation: September 1 DISPLAY, MATERIALS, AND DESIGN Starting with a domed top glass that arcs all the way to the recycled stainless steel sides, the Pixel Watch is made up of three unique layers. Early measurements indicate that the circular watch body is about 14mm thick and more over 40mm diameter, while the flat display appears to be about 30mm wide (or 1.18 inches). Google has not disclosed the display resolution or the type of glass used to shield it.

A button located above the rotating bottle-cap-shaped crown at three o’clock can be used to press it. The case also includes two little circular cutouts and a lengthy speaker grill on the left edge.

Large band openings can be found on the top and bottom, and the 20mm straps fasten using a unique method that entails tilting the insert before snapping it into place.

BANDS AND COLORS Google demonstrated the Pixel Watch in three shades of stainless steel:
Silver: A glossy, gleaming finish Black: Possibly matte, non-reflective, Darker shade of gold

Google is developing a wide range of watch bands, however not all may be released or produced by the firm directly, as we revealed in June:

Silicone band: Google has already demonstrated this and it is remarkably similar to Fitbit’s Infinity Bands. textile band elastic band Two different styles and lighter/darker coloured leather straps Link bracelet with a stainless steel mesh band in shades that complement the three body colors. 9to5 PIXEL WATCH SPECS Google revealed in May that Samsung’s Exynos 9110 powers the Pixel Watch. It has a co-processor and more RAM than 1.5GB, which should be more than what Wear OS is currently offering. The 32GB of storage, which is twice as much as that of competing devices, enables users to keep numerous music offline.

The Tizen-powered Galaxy Watch introduced that chip in 2018, however a number of duties should be delegated to the co-processor. Whether Tensor branding will be used and how Google will identify this SoC are both unknown.

Additionally, we’ve mentioned that the Pixel Watch’s battery is slightly under 300mAh and is expected to last all day. A magnetic puck with USB-C on the other end is used for charging.

In addition to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, Google will sell an LTE cellular version of the Pixel Watch. Other features include 50 meters of water resistance and a built-in GPS.

PIXEL WATCH HEALTH AND FITBIT The Pixel Watch places a lot of emphasis on exercise, fitness, and health. In addition to Google Fit, there is of course the Fitbit integration, which provides a dashboard view of all your statistics similar to that found on Fitbit devices now in use.

Similar to the Fitbit Luxe and Charge 5, the Pixel Watch’s sensor array is located underneath the device. Additionally to hardware support for blood oxygen and EKG readings, there is a heart rate sensor.

WEAR APPS AND OS Wear OS 3 is installed on the Pixel Watch, however it is unclear how much Google will alter the interface. It will stand apart from Samsung’s One UI Watch and may be more in line with the impending Montblanc release or Fossil updates.

Instead of a round bubble launcher, for instance, there should be a plain list of apps, and you should be able to swipe up to view notifications. In contrast to tiles, which are accessed by swiping vertically from the clock display, pulling down for quick settings remains the same.

Google is working on some watch faces, some of which we have already seen. The styles range from digital to analog, and the majority include slots for complications like Fitbits.

A major focus will undoubtedly be placed on Google Assistant, along with tap-to-pay for Google Pay and Wallet and map navigation. All those programs already exist, but the business also demonstrated a Google Home program that includes a gadget feed and a front door alarm feature.

A Google Pixel Watch companion app will be available, and your Pixel Watch can unlock your Chromebook and Android device. Additionally, Fast Pair ought to be accessible to speed up pairing and switching Bluetooth headphones.

PRICE AND LAUNCH OF PIXEL WATCHES We noted at the end of August that Google is charging $399 in the US for its cellular Pixel Watch with LTE. If everything goes according to plan, this might alter prior to the autumn launch, which we can confirm will coincide with the simultaneous availability of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. Price reductions should result from carrier agreements, and Google Fi’s readiness for support has already been seen.

Although Google’s watch is currently somewhat more expensive than Samsung’s entry Galaxy Watch 5 ($279), the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi Pixel Watch will be less expensive. Though sapphire glass is not being utilized, it is noteworthy that recycled stainless steel, which is typically a high-end material, is being used.
