There is no diplomatic way to remark that Showtime’s original programming is lacking this August. The current seasons of The Chi and Flatbush Misdemeanors come to a close, and then nothing. MMA and new movies on Showtime are both being added to the streaming service, so here are our selections for this month.
Jackass always (AUGUST 1) In spite of all the suffering, humiliation, and exposed body parts, Jackass Forever has an inexplicably endearing quality. The current episode depicts the aging cast of chaotic stuntmen passing the baton to a fresh round of jerks while continuing to embrace the chaos that helped shape them into who they are today.
ENDLESS STORM (AUGUST 15) This 2022 alpine survival film starring Billy Howle and Naomi Watts isn’t the greatest film ever created. However, if you’re in the midst of an August heat wave, watching the pair endure a brutal snowfall on Mount Washington in New Hampshire might help you chill off. It won’t harm to try!
GRACIE vs. YAMAUCHI at BELLATOR MMA 284 (AUGUST 12) The Gracie family is renowned in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, as fans of mixed martial arts are aware, but recently, their star has faded. Can Goiti Yamauchi, a master of the submission hold 21 victories, defeat the fourth generation fighter Neiman Gracie? Should be a good battle.
