Qualcomm releases the launch date for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip.

The dates for Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon Summit have been made public. The corporation will present its most cutting-edge innovations during its yearly event in 2022 between November 15 and November 17. The three-day event is expected to see the chip industry titan introduce its newest mobile flagship CPU, which will drive the top Android handsets in 2023.

As was to be expected, Qualcomm has not yet made public what will be unveiled at the next Snapdragon Summit. There is still much work to be done. In the lead-up to the event, we might see the corporation tease the new products and technologies. It currently just has the Summit’s dates and location, which are once again in Hawaii.

Visit our largest display of the year to see the newest in technology, according to Qualcomm. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 should be included here, according to the firm. The name is a very safe assumption even though it isn’t yet official. The names of Qualcomm’s chipsets were altered last year. In December 2021, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1—the successor to the Snapdragon 888—arrived.

Advertisement A FEW SIGNIFICANT CHANGES WILL BE BRINGED BY THE SNAPDRAGON 8 GEN 2 The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has already been the subject of numerous leaks. As far as we know, TSMC will use its 4nm process nodes to produce the new chipsets. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 was produced by Samsung Foundry last year, although Qualcomm switched production of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 back to TSMC earlier this year. These are both 4nm chips.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is said to have an unusual CPU core configuration and go by the product number SM8550 and codename Kailua. One Cortex-X3 CPU core, two Cortex-A720 CPU cores, two Cortex-A710 CPU cores, and three Cortex-A510 CPU cores make up a 1 2 2 3 quad-cluster configuration.

It’s possible that this is the first mobile processor with four distinct CPUs. Since the release of the Snapdragon 855 in 2019, Qualcomm has employed a triple-cluster CPU configuration (1 3 4). The company is adding two Cortex-A720s and two Cortex-A710s to the middle cores while maintaining one super core in the future solution. This should lead to better long-term performance.

Advertisement The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is touted to be significantly more power-efficient than the current option, despite having one fewer efficiency core. Early entrance testing predict an efficiency increase of about 15%. Although it is still too early to draw any conclusions, this should serve as a precursor to future events. More information about the speed and efficiency improvements of the next chipset should slip online as Qualcomm continues to work on it. We’ll keep you informed on all the most recent developments.
