Powered by Wear OS and the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1, Mobvoi previews the release of its new Ticwatch.

Many companies have come and gone over the years in the Wear OS market, but Mobvoi has remained with its Ticwatch line-up. Currently, Mobvoi is previewing the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1-powered next-generation Ticwatch.

The upcoming Mobvoi Ticwatch, which will use Qualcomm’s brand-new and genuinely intriguing Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 CPU, will be the first Wear OS wristwatch.

That chip represents a significant advancement for wearable processors, as we explained yesterday. It offers significant improvements in both performance and battery life, the latter of which is especially interesting considering Qualcomm’s estimations.

Today, Mobvoi is giving a hint as to what is to come. Qualcomm revealed that Mobvoi would be the first customer for a Wear OS smartwatch featuring the Snapdragon W5.

The brand hints that its upcoming smartwatch, which will employ the W5, will be more potent than any previous models while also having a longer battery life. Although Mobvoi doesn’t mention the watch by name, the teaser image makes it clear that it will be a member of the Ticwatch Pro family.

Mobvoi continues:

The upcoming TicWatch will feature the Snapdragon W5 architecture, which offers longer battery life on a single charge and is currently the most advanced smartwatch in the series. Additionally, Mobvoi will be able to produce a smartwatch with extremely quick speed and connection thanks to the Snapdragon W5 platforms powerful applications processor and ultralow power co-processor.

It’s not yet clear which version of Wear OS Mobvoi will be utilizing in this case.

Although nothing has been officially announced as of yet, it appears likely that Wear OS 3 will be supported given that other smartwatch manufacturers are now using the platform.

Utilizing Wear OS at this moment is exciting!
