Over 4 million people have already played the free Fortnite port on Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Microsoft has done a fantastic job of developing the Xbox Game Pass cloud gaming component, but its biggest success to date may have come from a relationship with Epic Games’ Fortnite, which has over four million gamers.

Fortnite, one of the most well-known video games in the world, will be accessible to all gamers through Xbox Cloud Gaming for free thanks to a partnership between Microsoft and Epic Games that was revealed earlier this year.

The promotion’s evident target audience was mobile users, who are still unable to download Fortnite natively through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, and it appears that it connected with them. According to Tom Warren highlighted on Twitter , Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated on a recent call that Fortnite has already been played by around four million people using Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Four million people trying out the game using a new technique in just three months is a lot, but it’s also not a big surprise. The majority of these users likely originate from iOS, where there are few options for playing Fortnite because, unlike Android, iOS prohibits sideloading of programs. One of the few more locations where Fortnite may be streamed on an iPhone or iPad is GeForce Now.

Additionally, Nadella explained that over a million of the players that experienced Fortnite through Xbox Cloud Gaming were brand-new to the Xbox ecosystem, demonstrating the success of the strategy to draw in more users.

Over 10 million users have tried Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nadella added in May. Keyboard and mouse functionality for Xbox Cloud Gaming was made public a month later, and the service has subsequently been made available as an app on some Samsung Smart TVs.
