New Huawei MatePad tablets have a Snapdragon 870 processor, 120 Hz screens, with HarmonyOS.

At IFA 2022, Huawei unveiled a number of items that were previously only available in China. The MatePad Pro 11 and MatePad Pro 12.6 are Huawei’s two most notable new releases.

Hardware releases are undoubtedly plenty, even though the company is still hampered by a lack of access to Google Mobile Services, which hurts sales in Western countries. There are now two new MatePad Pro models with 11-inch and 12.9-inch displays.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 engine powers the minimally bezelmed, 120Hz OLED panels on both tablets. The upper mid-range processor has 128/256GB of onboard storage as standard and is combined with 8/12GB of RAM. There are two different battery sizes: 8,300mAh and 10,050mAh.

Unfortunately, even while the hardware seems to be reliable for a tablet of this size, it is difficult to recommend unless you are willing to put up with workarounds or rely entirely on Huawei’s AppGallery for all of your entertainment demands. Nevertheless, there are ways to sideload a lot of your preferred Google apps and some particular third-party apps. While certain programs are still conspicuous omissions from AppGallery, the majority will function without a hitch. Over the past 18 months, the situation has significantly improved.

The 2022 MatePad series ships with HarmonyOS pre-installed, which Huawei markets as an alternative to Android but is fundamentally very similar. Although Huawei has ambitious goals for platform integration, individuals who have used Android before will find the fundamental experience to be rather familiar. Although the price has not yet been formally announced, we anticipate it to be close to or equal to the prior asking price, which is roughly $650–$650. In the upcoming weeks, availability is also expected to be made public.

The Chinese OEM also unveiled the Nova 10 and Nova 10 Pro for the first time outside of their native markets alongside updated Huawei MatePad tablets. The gadget pair comes in silver and glossy black color schemes and features 120Hz displays, 50MP, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro, and 60MP selfie cameras, as well as 4G-only Snapdragon 778G CPUs, 4,500mAh batteries, and 8/256GB variations.
