New devices featuring Google TV and Android TV are being released as Google’s efforts on the TV continue to grow. This week, TCL unveiled a new batch of Google TV models for 2022 that are aimed at the European market, but regrettably they don’t provide Android 12.
From cost-effective 4K LED TVs to upscale miniLED models, TCL has five new TV series coming to Europe. These models are currently only being released in the UK and Europe, but at least some of them will eventually make their way to the US.
With the P73 and P63 series each delivering 4K, Dolby Vision, and a profusion of size options ranging from 43 to 85 inches, TCL’s new entry-level TVs aren’t very fascinating. With support for variable refresh rate and HDMI 2.1, the C73 series enhances the screen at the midrange price point. However, the slightly less expensive C63 still has some minor improvements over the P-series entry-level model despite losing both of these capabilities. This also includes larger sizes, with a gigantic 98-inch variant available in the C73 series.
The C83 series, which is one step above, provides miniLED in 55-inch, 65-inch, and 75-inch sizes. This series also supports 4K120 content, HDMI 2.1, and variable refresh rate.
With 65-inch and 75-inch sizes, the TCL C93 series represents the pinnacle of the company’s Google TV offering. The dimming zones are the main distinction between the C93 and C83 series, with the C93 delivering 1,080 zones on 65-inch models and 1,920 zones on 75-inch variants. VRR and auto low-latency input are also included in this series, along with 4K120 input and HDMI 2.1.
These TCL TVs from 2022 utilize the same Google TV software as those from last year’s models, along with Google’s newest Chromecast, but with a new Game Bar function. Users may now access gaming features more rapidly thanks to this new feature. FlatPanelsHD confirmed that the software experience is still built on Android TV OS 11, not Android TV OS 12, which Google announced is rolling out this year.
