Launch of Android 13 is most probable in September.

Google recently released the Android 13 Security Release Notes along with the August 2022 Security Bulletin, and they indicate that the upcoming major release of the mobile OS will debut in September.

These release notes describes Android device vulnerabilities that are fixed as part of Android 13. The Android runtime, Framework, Media Framework, Package, Platform (mentioned twice for some reason), and System all have a total of 107 CVEs published by Google.

The 2022-09-01 security patch level predicts the release of Android 13 in September, while it’s possible that this is only the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) launch.

These flaws are guarded against by Android 13 devices having a security patch level of 2022-09-01 or later (Android 13, as released on AOSP, will have a default security patch level of 2022-09-01).

However, this security level does not always indicate when the Pixel deployment will happen. In the previous year, early October saw the release of Android 12 to AOSP, and the Pixel update didn’t begin for another two weeks.

Android 13 launch

The public-facing Beta Program for Android 13 has already begun sooner than normal. Only two developer previews were released, and the first beta went live one month before Google I/O 2022. Some people believed that Android 13’s final release might occur as early as August because July was the last month Google noted for Beta 4.

Google has strangely still not made the Android 12 August security patch available as of this morning, but it should be coming for Pixel . Google already informed us that the Pixel 6a will receive the most recent Android 13 Beta.
