In the US, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 now supports eSIM. The functionality is available thanks to the June 2022 security update, which started rolling out earlier this month for the two-year-old foldable. Both variations that are carrier-locked and those that are unlocked may already access the update broadly.
The Galaxy Z Fold 2 ships with eSIM hardware, just like many previous Samsung flagships. But for all this time, the feature wasn’t available in the US. The 2020 foldable variant is now getting it, letting consumers to use two numbers on the device—one physical SIM and one eSIM—nearly two years after introduction. Since late 2020, this function has been offered on phones in several more markets.
The most recent version also makes the second-generation Samsung foldable device compatible with dual SIM dual standby (DSDS). You can continue to use both numbers simultaneously with DSDS. ESIM WAS ALSO GAINED BY GALAXY Z FOLD 3 AND GALAXY Z FLIP 3 LAST MONTH. As previously mentioned, Samsung has long had eSIM hardware in their flagship smartphone.
