This evening at the 2022 Code Conference, Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai spoke with Kara Swisher in-depth about productivity, rivalry, and Mandamp;A while sporting the Pixel Watch.
Pichai, who often avoids wearing any form of watch in public, was sporting a gold Pixel Watch with a lemongrass-colored strap. On the Google Store, this specific combination is already rated advertised . The watch face that we previously saw enabled the always-on display. With three circular ones below and a complication slot above, it has huge numerals for the time.
Over the course of the more than 50-minute interview, more and more of the Pixel Watch was shown. From a side perspective, it appears to be rather thick, particularly the bottom dome made of recycled stainless steel. According to one caliper measurement that was leaked, it measures more than 14 mm (and with an over 40 mm diameter).

The side button directly above the bottle cap-shaped crown was also not very noticeable from a distance. Google’s hardware presentation on October 6 will feature further information on the Pixel Watch and Pixel 7.
In addition to (Pixel) watch spotting, Sundar Pichai cited the merging of YouTube Music and Google Play Music as an example of productivity gains the business is pursuing, particularly in light of the current state of the economy. Another example was streamlining decision-making, and Swisher questioned whether there was any particular area of the business that wasn’t performing effectively. Pichai stated the following while referencing Google as a company that had been terminated years earlier:
You might ever look at a project and think, “This would be better done differently, or someone outside is doing it better.” It seems sense that a corporation wouldn’t do something just for the sake of doing it if they didn’t think they were doing it well.
He nevertheless supported the social network, citing Google Photos as a result.

He mentioned how TikTok and Apple are expanding in terms of advertising rivalry while mentioning Microsoft and Netflix deal for the streaming services’ ad-supported tier.
When Swisher questioned whether Google was engaging in fewer mergers and acquisitions, Pichai referenced Fitbit (and what the Pixel Watch will look like) before expressing his broad opinions:
We only want to purchase items that, in our opinion, are sound and that, when we bring them into the business, we can develop and use further.
