Galaxy Z Fold 4 officially launches with larger displays, a 50-megapixel camera, and a $1,799 pricing.

The latest version of Samsung’s premium foldable is here. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 has the same price tag but a new design, improved cameras, and other improvements. You should be aware of the following.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 ‘s offer is fundamentally very comparable to that of the previous Galaxy Fold devices. With a vertical fold, the device’s outer display can function like a typical smartphone while expanding to a significantly larger display. Both screens are the same size as the previous two generations; the outer display is 6.2 inches in size, while the inside panel is 7.6 inches.

But the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s screens are where we actually start to see changes.

The aspect ratio on both the inner and outside displays has altered, so let’s start there. The exterior display of the Fold 4 changes from a very tall and thin 25:9 aspect ratio to a 23.1:9 aspect ratio. In practice, this results in the phone becoming larger and shorter, more like a standard smartphone. The interior display likewise switches from a 5:4 to a 21.6:18 aspect ratio. The same holds true; it is now shorter and has a bigger display. In actual use, the broader inner display should perform better for video content, gaming, and Android apps designed for tablets.

The under-display camera is another modification to the inner display. Samsung has enhanced the display that hides the camera, which is still still 4MP, to make it less obvious. Additionally, according to Samsung, the interior display is more brightly lit than the Fold 3.

Samsung promises that this year’s inner display should be more durable thanks to an improved layer structure that will lessen damage from outside impact. This time around, the display crease is also marginally less obvious.

Both the rear panel and the outer display are made of Gorilla Glas Victus.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 has the same engine as its predecessors, making it a powerful device. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, paired with 12GB of RAM and either 256GB, 512GB, or a whopping 1TB of storage in the US, is the best chip available in an Android smartphone right now.

The Fold 4 is the first handset to debut with Android 12L upgrades thanks to the software, which is based on Android 12L. Technically, the Pixel 6a had 12L out of the box as well, but it didn’t make use of any of the large-screen improvements. The redesigned Taskbar, which is located at the bottom bar and features the standard navigation for fast moving between apps or dragging them into split-screen multitasking modes, is where you’ll see Android 12L on the Fold 4 the most. One UI 4.1.1 also has a new Flex Mode Touchpad, which enables you to use the display’s lower half as a trackpad when the mouse pointer is visible.

The Fold 4 will receive up to four years of major Android upgrades and up to five years of security fixes, just like other Samsung smartphones.

A 4,400 mAh battery with 25W cable charging and 15W wireless charging rounds up the main specifications. This battery is the same as last year’s, but should perform somewhat better this time around due to a more efficient CPU. The phone still supports eSIM for network connectivity and maintains its IPX8 water resistance rating.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4’s cameras have also been significantly improved, with a 50MP camera serving as the main sensor. The sensor is the same one that was used in the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22, which we loved earlier this year. The phone’s 30x Space Zoom feature is made possible by this sensor, a new 10MP 3x telephoto lens, and a third 12-megapixel ultrawide camera.

Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 are already open, however it won’t be available until August 26. The price remains at $1,799. This is the same as the previous version.

A free memory upgrade, trade-in discounts of up to $1,000, a free Standing Cover with Pen cover, and a $100 credit are all included with the Pre-orders for the Fold 4 from . For added security, Samsung Care is also an option. The company claims to be providing Care free of charge for one year with pre-orders, although we haven’t been able to locate it on the website just yet.

In addition to Graygreen, Beige, and Phantom Black, will also sell the Fold 4 exclusively in a Burgundy shade.
