Dolby Atmos functionality on Android TV and Google TV is temporarily broken by a Disney update.

Disney has swiftly established itself as a mainstay for many thanks to its fascinating original content and extensive library of Marvel, Star Wars, and of course, Disney-related media. However, Disney on Android TV’s most recent revisions appear to have crippled the app’s Dolby Atmos functionality.

After Disney for Android TV and Google TV received a recent update that was extensively implemented, customers have begun to complain that Dolby Atmos is no longer functioning.

Over the past few hours, users on Reddit have become aware of the problem, which affects a wide range of devices. As of right now, it would seem that Sony Bravia TVs running Android TV/Google TV as well as the Nvidia Shield TV do not support Dolby Atmos on Disney. Additionally, there is an related report of a TCL Android TV experiencing problems with Atmos on the Disney and Apple TV apps.

Although it’s unclear when a remedy will be made available for this bug, at least one user claims that reverting to an earlier version of the Disney app solves the issue. The problematic version appears to be 2.9.1, as there are no Atmos problems with the earlier 2.8.0. Although it is true that doing so on a TV is not the easiest method, you can sideload that version.
