Dolby Atmos and Chromecast support are provided by Polk Audio’s new MagniFi Max AX soundbar.

The MagniFi Max AX, a premium soundbar from Polk Audio that has support for Dolby Atmos, Chromecast connectivity, and more, has just made its debut.

Polk’s former MagniFi Max series, which we evaluated back in 2018, is replaced with the MagniFi Max AX. Support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, which Polk claims produces an ultra-wide soundstage, is the major addition here. Polk’s fourth generation of SDA technology, which supports object-oriented sound codecs, is also included in the soundbar. According to Polk, the MagniFi Max AX will have the most realistic image of any sound bar in its class.

A hidden display that can show particular settings and the input you are using is another significant improvement over the previous generation. For different settings, the old model only had a string of LEDs.

The soundbar alone from Polk Audio has 11 speakers, and the SR package adds two wireless surround speakers. While SR offers 7.1.2 sound, the base package only provides 5.1.2. Each speaker has a 10-inch subwoofer. Three HDMI connections with eARC support and 4K HDR/Dolby Vision let you organize your TV configuration. Although all of these inputs only support 60Hz, 4K is available on all of them. Toslink optical is another option for connecting your TV’s audio.

Additionally, the Polk Audio MagniFi Max AX includes Chromecast connectivity, allowing you to join the soundbar and other devices to Google Home speaker groups and use Google Assistant to control the soundbar. Additionally, Bluetooth, Spotify Connect, and AirPlay 2 with Apple devices are supported.

Price ranges for the Polk Audio MagniFi Max AX soundbar subwoofer start at $799 for the 5.1.2 package and $899 for the 7.1.2 SR package , respectively (soundbar subwoofer surround speakers). Polks website is currently accepting orders, and shipping will begin in October.
