Dark theme, Shelf calendar, Google Photos wallpapers, and more are coming with ChromeOS 104.

With several significant interface enhancements that enhance how you use the operating system, ChromeOS 104 is now rolling out to starting today .

The new dark and light themes in ChromeOS 104 cover every area of the user interface. This contains the backgrounds of several settings pages as well as the shelf, app launcher, and Files app. The dark theme is switchable on the second page of Quick Settings. In accordance with the chosen concept, Google has developed wallpapers that slowly change from light to dark.

You’ll see that after the update, the month and day are now displayed to the left of the time in the shelf. A monthly calendar that allows you to tap a day to see all events is displayed when you tap, and the Google Calendar PWA is displayed when you click again. You may conveniently navigate back to Today after seeing different months.

Any available alerts are displayed just above this and take up the same amount of space as Quick Settings. The same sender’s notifications are now grouped together, and the touch targets for alert actions are larger.

More people are now able to use the new Launcher, which is smaller and does not occupy the entire screen. Some people might also be able to rapidly search the Play Store for Android apps with an inline rating.

A more feature-rich Gallery app (with a new purple icon) is added to ChromeOS version 104. It can open PDF files and let users to fill out forms, sign papers, and add text annotations like highlights.

A new Wallpaper and style application is also available, and it can be reached by right-clicking the shelf and choosing the final option. You can set wallpapers from your Google Photos library in addition to the selections that Google has selected. You can choose an album to have a different background show up every day.

Additionally, you may customize your device’s theme (auto-switching is an option) and screen saver, which comes in three different styles: slide show, feel the breeze, and float by.
