By accident, Airbnb sends test notifications to all Android phones worldwide.

You are not alone if you received an odd test notification from Airbnb this morning.

On August 17, early in the morning, individuals who had the Airbnb app installed received a test notification. The notice itself just read test dev, and had no apparent purpose. In reality, pressing the notice only causes the Airbnb app to open to its home page.

Every Android user worldwide who had the Airbnb app loaded received the notification from the looks of it .
What took place here?

It was probably just a simple error. Many people have theorized that a developer unintentionally sent this notification to the production version of the app when testing something in the app and used the incorrect credentials. The test clearly showed that the theory was correct, so at least it seems completely tenable!

If you just received this notification on your phone in the morning, smile and carry on. It’s a silly error, but one that won’t ultimately cause any problems.

In the meantime, Airbnb has just introduced new technologies for its rentals that will aid in identifying users who pose a significant threat of hosting parties in the rentals and annoying the owners. The new tools will automatically steer these users away from private residences and toward hotels or rooms where a host is more likely to be nearby. The whole report is in 9to5Mac .
