Building interoperable devices for the constantly growing Internet of Things and bridging connectivity gaps between various networks, protocols, ecosystems, and platforms are the focus of today’s Works With Developer Conference. While some technologies, such as Matter, may be able to handle that issue inside the home, what about connectivity outside of a specific building? Amazon Sidewalk can help with that.
For those who don’t know, Amazon Sidewalk is a secure, always-on community network supported by millions of Amazon Sidewalk-enabled devices already present in homes, businesses, and the surrounding infrastructure. This will contribute to better connectivity that is more accessible, consumes less energy, and has a wider range than Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
Amazon Sidewalk is working behind the scenes to enable helpful, intelligent innovations that were never before possible, from small, in-home services like finding a misplaced garage door opener or extending connectivity to yards and neighborhoods to big applications like early alerting for wildfires or water quality monitoring. Silicon Labs is available to assist developers in designing Sidewalk-enabled devices to deliver on the promise made to users by Amazon Sidewalk.
The Silicon Labs Pro Kit for Amazon Sidewalk, which was just released today and is the first end-to-end Amazon Sidewalk development platform available, provides developers with a quick way to create products that support Amazon Sidewalk. Amazon Sidewalk offers the following to programmers and designers:
A flexible, private connection that allows long-distance use cases
*A dependable and permanent network that strengthens with each new device added, assisting in the expansion of coverage and improving connectivity for endpoint devices for developers and end users.
*
a streamlined procedure to accelerate time to market thanks to the partnership between Silicon Labs and Amazon
Silicon Labs is now the go-to location for Amazon Sidewalk developers thanks to the new Silicon Labs Pro Kit for Amazon Sidewalk. A pre-flashed software image, Amazon Web Services pre-registration, connectivity hardware for Bluetooth LE and sub-GHz, and Silicon Labs Secure VaultTM security are all included in the Silicon Labs Pro Kit for Amazon Sidewalk. Developers receive everything they need to start their Amazon Sidewalk development adventure when coupled with Silicon Labs Simplicity Studio. Since Silicon Labs offers tools and help from beginning to end, developers rarely need to contact Amazon support, which saves them important time during setup and onboarding as they advance.
