Samsung’s newest wearable, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro , is a bulky smartwatch in comparison to the company’s usual model. The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is, however, physically larger than Samsung advertises, but that’s not always a bad thing.
Most of the time, smartwatches are substantially thicker than their conventional equivalents. For good reason, an older digital or even mechanical timepiece is typically much slimmer than a contemporary smartwatch. The operating system chips, numerous health sensors, larger touchscreens, and day-long battery life are all features that smartwatches from companies like Samsung, Apple, Fitbit, and others must incorporate in contrast to classic timepieces.
Samsung isn’t really holding back on thickness with the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. The Watch 5 Pro is only 0.1 millimeters thicker than the basic Galaxy Watch 5 according to Samsung’s own website. Furthermore, it is asserted to be thinner than the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, which has a thickness of up to 11.2mm.
The Galaxy Watch 5 Pro on Samsungs website ‘s thickness, however, does not accurately depict the size of the gadget. DCRainmaker noticed noted that the Watch 5 Pro appeared to be much thicker than Samsung had stated, and an digital caliper revealed that the watch actually measures 15.2mm, which is much thicker than Samsung’s declared 10.5mm thickness.
Samsung’s claim that the watch body alone is 10.5mm thick seems to ignore the thickness of the BioActive sensor, which protrudes from the watch’s underside.

The unfortunate aspect of this issue is that Samsung is obviously drastically bending the truth. Because previous measurements of the Galaxy Watch included the entire thickness of the watch, not just the chassis, the business is clearly aware that it is doing that. Samsung states that the Galaxy Watch 5 is the same thickness as the Galaxy Watch 4, but after upgrading myself, I can say with certainty that it doesn’t feel as thin as the older model.
On the other hand, the watch’s thickness isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
To achieve greater accuracy, the BioActive sensor protrudes as far as it does from the bottom of the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro (and the Galaxy Watch5, too). According to Samsung, the wider bulge enables better skin contact, which leads to better outcomes.
Galaxy Watch5 tracks health parameters with even better accuracy than Galaxy Watch4 because to its larger surface area and closer contact with your wrist.
Samsung
Although the statistics on Samsung’s website are blatantly false and should be altered, the thickness itself doesn’t seem like that large of a concern. In person (as shown in the image above), the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro appear to be only slightly different in size.
And surprisingly, Samsung isn’t the only company who uses this technique!
Apple Watch Series 7 is actually 13.1mm thick, despite Apple’s listing of 10.7mm. Although it is labeled as 12.9mm, the Garmin Forerunner 255 Music is actually 14mm. Furthermore, the Galaxy Watch 5 was shown to be thicker than Samsung had said (though an exact number wasnt shared). Interesting enough, the Fitbit Sense was one of the only items that actually match its stated thickness of 12.35mm. The main issue with this technique, as DCRainmaker noted, is that it makes it nearly impossible for users to do an accurate comparison when purchasing a smartwatch. In most cases, the difference is only a millimeter or two, which is not a big concern, but the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro is an unusually glaring example.
Samsung has not yet updated its statements on its official website about the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro ‘s thickness.
