Over the years, advertisements have crept into the YouTube experience as a way to support creators financially and maintain the platform. However, it appears like YouTube is now going above and beyond with its advertising, playing up to 10 non-skippable adverts in a row.

On YouTube, commercial breaks generally show before the start of a video as well as throughout it if the producer permits it. These breaks can typically last a few seconds or a few minutes, but longer adverts typically offer the option to skip that ad after a certain amount of time.
Some YouTube users have noticed that, over the past few of months, the number and length of adverts on the site have significantly increased, especially for unskippable formats.
Multiple threads on Reddit point out that commercial breaks might occur as frequently as every few minutes in larger videos. The increase in reports from viewers who say they are seeing a lot more unskippable advertising during YouTube ad breaks is just as bad, if not worse. Threads on Reddit through more recent tweets show off ad breaks with up to 10 consecutive, non-skippable adverts.

These extended breaks seem to be happening more frequently lately, while it doesn’t seem to be happening with all videos or even with all viewers. Users with about five ads every break are more common than users with ten ads per break.
the positive news These commercials aren’t very long. According to user accounts, these advertisements are typically about five or six seconds long. As a result, even an ad break with 10 unskippable advertisements would last only about 60 seconds.
The TeamYouTube Twitter account did reply responded to one user’s complaint and stated that these are considered bumper ads, a format that appears at the beginning of videos and shows a few of these extremely brief ads. YouTube hasn’t acknowledged any intentional increase in advertisements on the platform.
Update 9/16: A representative for YouTube has confirmed to 9to5Google that the larger ad pods that displayed a greater variety of advertisements were a part of a brief experiment that has since come to an end.

To that end, we are constantly experimenting with innovative methods of surfacing advertisements that improve the viewing experience. When people viewed longer movies on linked TVs, we did a short experiment where we presented several adverts in one ad pod. Reducing commercial breaks will improve the viewing experience for viewers. This small test has come to an end.
The company added that ad pods were initially introduced in 2018, albeit in fewer quantities, in an effort to deliver the required amount of commercials without significantly cutting short the longer films. Reducing ad breaks is one of the company’s goals as it reiterates that the customer experience is still its top concern.
However, it appears that there will be a significant rise in the amount of marketers that viewers will see during commercial breaks, which is certainly not enjoyable for anyone.
