According to reports, Sony LinkBuds S use the vent from Pixel Buds to provide noise cancellation and open sound.

It appears that Sony’s distinctive LinkBuds will take a more moderate tack than its sister. Sony’s LinkBuds doubled down on the idea of open sound in earbuds. According to a leak, the Sony LinkBuds S contain a vent that resembles Google’s Pixel Buds.

SnoopyTech, a site known for its accuracy in past Fitbit and other brand leaks, has revealed the WF-LSN900 earbuds from Sony. These are reportedly going to be sold under the name Sony LinkBuds S.

The original LinkBuds were distinguished by their distinctive design, which included an open earpiece that allowed ambient sounds to enter your ear while music played. With the LinkBuds S, Sony has opted for a slightly more conventional approach. Similar to other earbuds, it has a silicone earplug and a round body. However, in comparison to the company’s enormous flagship earphones, they are very modest.

The clear vent on the earphone, which appears to be directed at the driver, stands out in this case. Though Sony’s solution is significantly larger in size, the concept is comparable to what Google’s Pixel Buds series have provided. Because of this, the background noise could be crisper and louder than the Google buds.

Sony reportedly plans to switch between open, ambient sound and proper noise cancellation with the flick of a switch using this vent on the LinkBuds S. An automatic switch that picks up on your behavior is also mentioned.

Obviously, there is still a lot we don’t know about LinkBuds S, but it is unquestionably a notion worth being enthusiastic about. These will support Fast Pair and the built-in Google Assistant as well, if they are any indication of the rest of Sony’s lineup.
