Despite being one of the most popular streaming services, Amazon Prime Video’s UI has long trailed behind the competition in terms of usability. On Google TV and other platforms, the Amazon Prime Video app is now undergoing a significant revamp.
The new interface for Amazon Prime Video is rolling out on Google TV/Android TV, Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, and gaming consoles starting today. And one that was long overdue.
Unsurprisingly, the new Amazon Prime Video app now resembles the Netflix and Disney apps quite a bit. A new top ten list is also present, along with a navigation bar along the side of the user interface (UI) and featured material at the top of the homepage.
The app currently has six parts listed next to the UI, including the following:
Search Home Store Free My Stuff Live TV

General recommendations, your wishlist, purchases, and free to watch content are all included in these areas. A blue checkmark designates content that is part of Amazon Prime, whereas the emblem for separately acquired content is a golden shopping bag.

As per Amazon
We are releasing a revised, more user-friendly primary navigation menu. This makes it easier for users to browse our extensive selection—which includes movies, TV series, sports, and premium channels—and quickly locate what they’re looking for. Customers can access titles like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Boys, and the much awaited The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power with ease thanks to Prime membership. The new navigation menu has been moved to the side of the screen for our living room apps to make it easier to access. Six key pages will be available when the app first launches: Home, Store, Find, Live TV, Free with Ads, and My Stuff. Additionally, customers will have sub-navigation options, such as Movies or TV Shows, Sports on Home and Channels, or Rent or Buy on Store, to enable easier browsing by content or offer type.
The new UI, which is a significant improvement over the outdated and cluttered former design, seems familiar to users of other top streaming services.
During this initial deployment, Amazon is introducing this new Prime Video interface to Android smartphones and tablets in addition to TVs. In the upcoming months, the online interface and iOS devices will also receive updates.
